Briar’s Lore
Briar, a Noxian champion, shares her origins with powerful figures like Swain and Sion. Forged through hemomancy, she was intended to serve as a living weapon for the Black Rose faction. However, following a mission failure, Briar was imprisoned in a pillory secured by a hemolith—a magical gemstone that restrained her and refocused her mind. Subsequently captured by Swain’s forces after another failed mission, she found a way to loosen the hemolith and free herself, transforming into a fierce and ravenous jungler.
Briar’s Abilities
Here are Briar’s full abilities, and they look like she is going to be OP.
Passive-Crimson Curse
Briar’s attacks and abilities apply a stacking bleed that heals her for a portion of the damage dealt.Perpetually hungry, she gains increased healing based on her missing health but lacks innate health regeneration.
She will also heal for any remaining bleed damage when a bleeding enemy dies.
Q – Head Rush
Briar leaps toward a unit, dealing damage stunning them and breaking their armor.
If Briar casts this ability on a minion or monster while Blood Frenzy is active, she will stop prioritizing enemy heroes.
W-Blood Frenzy/Snack Attack
Briar leaps forward, shattering her pillory, in a blood frenzy that sends her relentlessly chasing down the nearest enemy (prioritizing the champion). While frenzied, she increases her attack speed and movement speed, and her attacks deal damage in an area around her target.
Briar can reactivate this ability while frenzied biting the target on her next attack, dealing bonus damage based on the target’s missing health, and healing her based on the damage dealt.
E-Chilling Scream
Briar refocuses, dispelling the blood frenzy and channeling the energy into a powerful scream that damages and slows enemies. While charging, she takes less damage and restores some of her maximum health. The energy-filled scream knocks back, deals bonus damage, and stuns enemies who hit the wall.
For Briar’s E, Riot said they realized that Briar needed some kind of off button to control her W (Blood Frenzy) so she would have more control over her fights. This way, she doesn’t have to go all out and overextend every time the player hits a W.
R – Certain Death
Blair kicked out a hemolith, marking the first champion hit as her prey. She then rushes right up to them, fears the other enemies around her at arrivial, and goes into complete hematomania.
She hunts down her prey until one of them dies, gaining the Blood Frenzy effect as well as bonus Armor, Magic Resist, Lifesteal, and Movement Speed.
According to Riot lead game designer August Brown, Briar is not a difficult hero to play. She does require some extreme awareness and good decision-making. The best Briar players will be the ones who learn how to control her frenzy, as she can easily kill herself with her W and her ultimate if she’s not careful.
